Savannah is a junior at Joplin High School in Joplin, MO. She is a survivor of the 2011 tornado that killed 161 people and destroyed one-third of Joplin—an experience that fueled her commitment to community service. She has served in leadership roles with several student groups, including Joplin High School’s Key Club, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, HOSA-Future Health Professionals, and Student Council. Not one to be idle, she currently serves as class president and is launching several fundraising projects. Savannah also volunteers as a lifeguard and mentors disabled students.

Savannah joined the YPC to hone her leadership and communication skills. During her time on the Council, she would like to create a video series on disaster preparedness for the Joplin High School TV station and possibly the local cable TV station.
